Cayman Prep Alumnae making big impression during their Accounting studies in the US and the UK

Coming on the heels of the School's welcome news that all A Level graduates this summer had obtained acceptances in their respective university of choice, recently two earlier A Level graduates of the School have been making news of their own with tremendous successes in their tertiary studies and while preparing for their professional accounting qualifications. 

Ms. Catherine Anderson, who graduated from Cayman Prep and High with 4 A Levels, recently received the joint highest marks worldwide in the Performance Management F5 paper of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants qualification. She shared the highest mark globally with only three other students out of 28,000 students who took part in the exam in June. She is employed with the local offices of the international accounting firm Rawlinson and Hunter where she is also in their scholarship programme.

Earlier in the summer, Ernst & Young lauded the accomplishments of Ms. Melanie McTaggart, one of their scholarship recipients, who they reported would be attending the University of Texas, widely thought to be the finest accounting school in the United States, to work toward a Masters Degree in Professional Accounting. In May, Melanie graduated summa cum laude from Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, with a Bachelor of Science in Economics degree, with concentrations in Accounting, Finance, Legal Studies and Business Ethics. Ernst & Young noted that during her junior year, Melanie received the coveted Laventhol and Horwath Scholarship, awarded to an Accounting major possessing the following criteria: academic merit, potential for leadership, and evidence of high ethical standards and integrity. Late in her senior year, Melanie received the following letter and accolade:
Dear Melanie, The Accounting Department at the Wharton School is proud to select you as the recipient of the Adam Averel Ross Award . . . The award is given to the senior undergraduate student who, having majored in Accounting, gives most promise of success on the basis of character, scholarship, and personality.

Ernst & Young noted that at Cayman Prep and High School, Melanie had received the Outstanding Student Award in 2004 and the Ernst & Young Achievement Award for Academic Excellence. It was at Cayman Prep that she completed her A Levels and gained admission to the Wharton School of Business, described as an esteemed Ivy League school.

The United Church salutes these two young people on their wonderful accomplishments and the hard work, strength of character and integrity that their employers, scholarship providers, universities and professional association have all taken note of, and wishes them God's continued blessings and success as they pursue completion of their professional qualifications. We also recognise with deep appreciation the respective investments and efforts of Ernst & Young, Rawlinson & Hunter and the Cayman Prep and High School in enhancing the lives of young people like Melanie and Catherine.
