Record Exam Results from Cayman Prep

Both the recently graduated Year 11 (GCSE and IGCSE) and Year 13 (A-Level) classes at Cayman Prep and High School achieved record results in their external examinations from the applicable British examinations boards. Mr. Paul Miller, Chair of the Education Commission of the United Church’s Synod, has expressed congratulations to all at the School for what he termed the “wonderful news” of these excellent achievements by the young people involved.

Of particular note, as the Church and School strive to ensure that all the students are properly challenged, nurtured and taught so as to make the most of their personal potential, regardless of their individual strengths and weaknesses, was that 100% of the Year 11 students secured passes in 5 or more subjects at the top grades of A* - C. Often, 5 subject passes at these A* - C grades in the General Certificate of Secondary Education and the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education is the measurement of “good” results at this level. In addition, and very commendable indeed, is that 64% of the students passed 10 or more subjects at these top grades!

In the A-Level examinations, the overall A*-C subject pass rate was 73.4%. In aggregate, they had 10 A* passes, 6 As, 26 Bs and 38 Cs, equipping them well for access to tertiary education of their choice. Some have already obtained extra credits in their new universities overseas, as a result of their individual performances in total or by subject, giving them a welcome head-start for the future.

In both the I/GCSE and A-Levels, the achievements of a number of individual students in the quantity of A* and A passes obtained have been described as “remarkable”.

In addition, the students at the School do Religious Education at I/GCSE in Year 10. The RE results were also exemplary this year – 25 A*, 12 A and 4 B passes – no one got lower than a B! In the Year 12 A-S Examinations, the A- C pass rate was 62%.

Commenting on what he termed “the excellent results”, Mr. John Macmillan, Vice-Chair responsible for oversight of Schools and Institutions of the Church’s Cayman Council, also offered the sincere congratulations of the Church to the Management and Staff and Board of the School, as well as to the students involved.
