Welcome News at Cayman Prep

On 1st August 2013, the Governors of Cayman Prep and High School gathered at the High School campus on Walkers Road to welcome the new Director of the School, Ms. Debra McLaughlin, who started that day, and to share with her their aims, hopes and aspirations for the School. The current main priorities set by the Board, as well as details of certain work in progress on a number of fronts that are also considered key issues by the Governors, were discussed. The Governors expressed their pleasure in having someone of Ms. McLaughlin’s standing, knowledge and experience of the country, her expertise in education, passion for children, and her familiarity with the School as a past Governor – and student! – taking the reins, and offered their full support as she assumes responsibility now to lead the School from strength to strength.
The Governors also took the opportunity to officially ‘break ground’ for the new building to house the dining area, shower facilities and additional classrooms. The contractors had just relocated the gazebo that has served as the dining area for the last several years, so that construction of the new building can begin immediately the Planning Approval process is finalised. (In the pictures, courtesy of Chaplain the Rev. Rohan Forrester, Ms. McLaughlin joins other members of the Board of Governors in this official act on her first day as Director.)
The Rev. Tara Tyme, Chair of the Cayman Islands Regional Mission Council  of the United Church, offered prayers for success and safety in respect of both new developments, that the leadership appointment and the improvement of the physical facilities will both enhance the lives of those entrusted to the School, to the glory of God, Who makes it all possible.
