Cayman Scenes brighten Mt. Olivet Boys Home

The boys of Mt. Olivet Boys Home in Jamaica will have some colourful new scenes from Cayman this Christmas, thanks to some other boys and girls, high school art students at Cayman Prep and High School and the other students who contributed to providing some custom made placemats for the Home’s dining hall. (Click here for full article from the School’s website.) It’s not the first time that the children of these two sterling institutions of the United Church have been able to share God’s love across the stretch of Caribbean that unites our One Church in Two Nations – and long may this caring love serve as an example for us all.
“The initiative was Mrs. Arthurlyn Pedley's and she deserves the thanks and congratulations not only for this but for her wonderful work in constantly encouraging our students to serve the community”, commented the high school Principal Mrs. Sheila Purdom. Mrs. Pedley is a long serving educator – and former student! - at Cayman Prep and High, who takes a keen interest in the Church’s children’s homes in Jamaica as well as a wide range of local and other international missions and worthy causes. Each Christmas the children are passionate about sharing also with families in the Cayman Community and this year the high school students have chosen Meals on Wheels to be the medium for distributing the help from the significant sum they have given and raised. And the primary students, who always organise a widely supported gift drive at Christmas, will be giving their gifts through the Department of Children and Family Services and the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre.
