Upcoming Overseas Mission Trips – opportunities to share or participate
There are a number of mission trip opportunities in the pipeline this year by our local congregations:Elmslie Minister and members have plans for:
Visit to Southeast Asia in May to visit both two Cayman missionaries currently based there and a local mission leader in one of the countries, who came to Christ when visiting Cayman as a crew member on a cruise ship. He visited the Elmslie Church, as many cruise passengers and crew do, as it is an iconic building right across the port, and met the Rev. Dr. Dave Hazle, who the gentleman has said was the first Christian Minister he had ever met! He continued to visit with Rev. Dave, gave his life to Christ and is back in his home country now leading a growing church. Both missions are supported by Elmslie.
Also, a team of about 10 will head to the Mount Olivet Boys’ Home in Jamaica the weekend of May 15th-18th.
While the local Youth With A Mission group is once again seeking to form a team of younger people for a trip during the summer.
And plans are already underway for a team to be formed to visit Mrs. Joan Bain in Guichard, Haiti in October. Mrs. Bain is the United Church’s missionary nurse in Haiti who has been operating a clinic, nurse practitioners training programmes and meal programmes, as well as working on other church evangelism and discipling activities, there for many years. She is sponsored and supported by the United Church, in particular Elmslie and the Cayman Islands Regional Mission Council.
Anyone interested in joining one of these opportunities may contact the Elmslie church office directly.
Savannah United Church is also planning a mission trip to CubaJuly 27th to 3rd August 2015. Contact the Savannah United Church office to see if spaces are still available.
And your prayers are invited for all these mission trips and for the life-enhancing work that is taking place at the missions which will be visited.
