Convocation pottery given to the people of the Cayman Islands

At the United Church in Jamaica and the Cayman Islands' Convocation held on April 22, 2018, in the Cayman Islands, at Cayman Prep and High School Auditorium, Mr. Dansville Davidson sat at the potter's wheel as we worshipped. He created a jar from clay and in presenting it to the Chair of Council, Ms. Angela Martins, he shared that his grandmother had a similar  'Monkey Jar' in which she kept water. The water was always cool and refreshing. The water not only served to quench the thirst but provided healing to the body.
In presenting this jar to the people of the Cayman Islands, the United Church wants for it to represent healing, unity, and peace in these islands and among the many nationalities that dwell here. It is our prayer that beginning with the individual, that inner peace would lead to outward expressions of peace towards one's neighbour. We pray for peace in the homes, churches, communities and the wider society.
The jar was presented to the Acting Governor of the Cayman Islands, Hon. Franz Manderson at the Back to Church Sunday service held at the Elmslie Memorial Church. It was presented by the Moderator of Synod, the Rt. Rev. L. Christopher Mason and the Chair of Council, Ms. Angela Martins.
