MESSAGE FROM THE MODERATOR FOR UCYPF SUNDAY, APRIL 28, 2019.

MESSAGE FROM THE MODERATOR FOR UCYPF SUNDAY, APRIL 28, 2019.
It is with great pleasure that I extend these greetings to the UCYPF on what has been named ‘UCYPF Sunday!’   The Young people of our Church are a vital element of the growth for which we aspire as a Church, as we renew and transform our worship and ourselves, and seek to better meet the needs of all our worshippers, especially those of our youth.
In this context, the Youth Convention, is a true evidence of the kind of innovation that characterises the UCYPF, and reflects how its membership has grown. I am especially pleased because this is a Convention that provides for our youth, opportunities for them to meet, simply to express themselves in worship of our God.
I am pleased with the work Synodical Youth Commission of the Synod whose remit it is to give focused attention to the goals of the Church’s ministry with persons between 13 and 25 years.
These and our other varied youth programmes are clear signs of our conviction that the best persons to minister to young people are young people themselves. This Church must continue to encourage creative means of engagement of our youth while helping them to move into a deeper understanding of and commitment to faith in Jesus Christ.
Therefore,  I urge you to value your relationship with God not as an optional extra but as central to your Christian identity and witness.
As we enter a new synodical period, may you purposefully engage the Synodical theme ”Discipleship for Life” as you focus on your own theme of “Deliberately Nurturing Others for Christ” – DNA4Christ”.
I pray for you as members of the United Church Young People’s Fellowship and for God’s continued guidance and blessings for tremendous success.
# DNA4Christ!
Rt. Rev. L Christopher Mason Moderator, UCJCI.  April 28, 2019.
