Environmental Stewardship and Justice Issues emphasised

The new Synod Theme: “RENEWAL AND TRANSFORMATION for LIFE!” (Liberty, Integrity, Faith, Environmental Stewardship) had been introduced at the annual Ash Wednesday Prayer Summit at the Prospect Youth Centre. While “Life” in its fullest sense as well as the four components of the anagram were explored, there was a strong focus on the introduction of the environmental element, given the state of the physical world and Cayman’s environment and the serious threats faced by and because of both. There was an equally strong focus on (other) issues of justice, with a special emphasis on gender inequality and child and other domestic abuse. Help was received by way of special posters and additional information from the Department of Environment and the Family Resource Centre on these two issues. (The opening picture shows some of the posters and pamphlets on these that were displayed.) Click for posters 1, 2 and 3 regarding some things we can all do to help preserve and protect our environment in Cayman and God’s magnificent creation.

Small groups were asked to focus their prayers and thoughts on the following:
Lord, help our lives to always exemplify the ...

• … Liberty of the Redeemed
• … Integrity of the Redeemed
• … Faith of the Redeemed
• … Environmental Stewardship of the Redeemed

and what that would mean for our proclamation, practices and advocacy as individual Christians and as the Church corporate.
